Is this the right upgrade for your conservatory?
Too hot / too cold?
A warm roof helps stabilise temperatures so the space is usable more of the year.
Noisy in the rain?
Insulation reduces the drumming and echo you get with lightweight roofs.
Tired or dated roof?
A cleaner, more solid finish can modernise the look from inside and out.
Can't use the room properly?
Turn a seasonal space into an all-year-round room.
A warm roof upgrade, without replacing your whole conservatory
If the structure of your conservatory is sound but the roof makes it uncomfortable, a replacement roof is often the most effective upgrade you can make.
Cwtch Roof is an insulated, lightweight, tile-effect roofing system designed specifically to replace older glass or polycarbonate conservatory roofs — improving comfort and giving the outside a smarter, more solid-looking roofline.
Why homeowners choose a Cwtch Roof
Tile-effect finish for a more solid-looking roofline
Insulated roof build-up to help reduce temperature extremes
Lightweight design (in most instances designed to be no heavier than a glass conservatory roof)
Options for Velux roof windows and lighting (where suitable)
A clear, well-managed process from survey to completion
What is a warm roof replacement?
A warm roof replacement removes your existing conservatory roof (typically glass or polycarbonate) and replaces it with an insulated system designed to improve comfort and reduce temperature extremes.
You can expect:
-
A more stable internal temperature
-
Reduced external noise
-
A more “room-like” feel
-
A refreshed look inside and out

Frequently asked questions
How long does a roof replacement take?
Timescales depend on your conservatory type, access and specification. As we pre-build much of the replacement roof off-site our time at your property is minimised. We’ll confirm expected timings once we’ve surveyed your site.
Will it make the conservatory usable all year?
An insulated roof replacement is designed to significantly improve comfort and reduce heat loss. As a consequence, most customers find they use the space significantly more throughout the year.
Can you replace the roof without changing the rest of the conservatory?
Often yes – provided the existing frames and structure are suitable. We’ll confirm this during a free survey.
Will it reduce noise when it rains?
Compared with older polycarbonate roofs, and even glass, an insulated roof system typically reduces noise and creates a generally more solid, house-like ceiling feel.
Do I need Planning Permission?
Planning Permission Friendly – Generally, conservatories fall under “Permitted Development Rights”, meaning they don’t usually require explicit planning permission if they meet certain criteria. We’ll confirm this early on at survey stage.
Our Cwtch Roofs are structurally engineered by HCE and certified by Total Building Control, ensuring full compliance with current building regulations.
Can I choose different finishes or roof styles?
Yes – we have lots of options, and we’ll recommend what we feel ‘the right’ finish for your conservatory would be, and advise on suitable options based on structure and layout.
What happens if my conservatory isn’t suitable?
We’ll tell you early and recommend the most sensible alternative rather than forcing a poor fit.
Do you offer aftercare if something needs adjusting later?
Yes – we offer aftercare and support once the installation is complete.
