If it's plain glass you're after then all our windows offer energy efficient Pilkington K glass as standard. If it's privacy you need then we offer a wide range of textured glass. And if you want decorative glass to make your windows authentic to a particular property or individual to your style, then choose from standard designs or we'll recreate your own.

At distinction Windows we supply a ‘standard’ range of components.  However if you require something special for your home please be sure to discuss it with our staff and we’ll try to make it happen for you.

Standard Glass Options
 

As standards we install Clear Pilkington ‘K’ Glass - Which is more thermally efficient than your standards glass).

If additional security is required we use Toughened glass – Which is heat treated and will resist a hit from a hammer before it breaks.

If additional heat insulation is desired we will provide soft coated argon filled units – These allow much less thermal heat transition than a standards double glazed unit.

Something Different

There are many different types of designs that can be incorporated into a sealed unit.  These revolve around three principle design options, being the type and paten of the lead or internal glazing bar, if a Bevel is used and any colours desired.

At Distinction Windows each unit is hand crafted to the customers bespoke design specification.  Meaning you can be as creative with your glass as our glaziers are clever with their hands.

Glazing Bars

Most "pseudo" Georgian designs are made using aluminium alloy of varying widths (19 mm and 25 mm are the most common) "pieced" together with "crucifix" joiners to create the design and sandwiched between the two layers of glass. 

Georgian bar designs are also available in a gold ‘Deco’ tubular aluminium bar which gives a distinguished feel to your property.
 

If you do not require internally beaded “Pseudo” Georgian bars there are externally glazed versions which are made out of uPVC to mach the window and act as dummy mullions to give the impression of a real Georgian designed window.
 

Stained Glass Encapsulation
 

We offer the ability to encapsulate your existing, restored or commissioned stained glass windows within double glazed units for installation into uPVC and timber window frames and doors.

This is a very popular option where the windows need replacing but to remove the stained glass windows would be a great loss to the look of the house.

When carrying out this procedure we carefully remove the original stained glass window from the property.  Take it to a stained glass specialist and have any damage repaired and the unit resized to fit into the new double glazed unit.

If necessary new or replica stained glass windows can be created to be installed into an extension to give the property that Distinctive look.
